The school in Nólsoy 13.04.2021

The school in Nólsoy has long wanted to honor Jens-Kjeld, because he received the Nordic Environmental Award for 2020, but due to Corona, it has not been possible until now.

On 13 April 2021, there was a gathering at the school in Nólsoy, where Jens-Kjeld was thanked for the school's collection of stuffed birds. He was also thanked for planting a garden in the middle of the village with all the original Faroese trees. In addition, he was thanked for the new garden with original Faroese flowers, which is located on his land, which fortunately is right next to the school on Nólsoy. He was also thanked for the Saturday school, where both children, parents and teachers have been trained to build for example houses for starlings.

Jens-Kjeld received a basket of homemade chocolate and a gift card for Hotel Brandan from Nólsoyar Fornminnisfelag (The Museum in Nólsoy), where he has been on the board for a full 37 years - or ever since the association was founded. He also received a beautiful bouquet from Býarbókasavninum (The City Library in Tórshavn). Last but not least, he got a beautiful card from the kids at school, who also sang two songs for him.

At the annual meeting of the Faroese ornithological association Føroya Fuglafrøðifelag 27.04.2019, the ornithologists Bergur Olsen, Andrias Reinert, Aksal Poulsen, Erik Mortensen and Jens-Kjeld Jensen were honored. The five have in each way made a great effort, which has been of considerable benefit to the Faroese birds.
Thus it was said about Jens-Kjeld:
Since Jens-Kjeld Jensen moved to the Faroe Islands in the 1970s, he has worked to promote the understanding of the Faroese birds and nature as a whole. With a rare driving force he has been responsible for ringing and other studies of countless Faroese bird species, and with the help of his wife Marita Gulklett and other colleges, he has communicated his knowledge in a myriad of Faroese and foreign magazines. Besides birds, Jens-Kjeld has also studied countless other aspects in the Faroese nature, which he describes on his website.
